Aaron Black B.Sc B.Agr
Faculty: Research LecturerAaron Black is a Research Lecturer in Sustainability within the InnoTech Centre.
Since graduation, Aaron has been employed by the South West College firstly as a researcher and now as a research lecturer in sustainability. His work to date has included renewable energy technologies demonstration, waste management, composting technology and on farm anaerobic digestion.
The main focus for Aaron’s work over the last three years has been on farm anaerobic digestion.
Jill Cush PhD MEng
Faculty: Research LecturerResearch Lecturer – Electronics, Software and ICT, South West College
Jill has worked in innovation and technology development for 14 years within the high-tech start-up business sector and more recently within the Further Education sector. In her role as research lecturer Jill is responsible for co-ordination of the delivery of a range of technical innovation support services to local employers in the private and public sectors, as well as other local support agencies and stakeholders. Jill has also successfully developed and implemented SME innovation training programmes and business support programmes.
Fergal Tuffy PhD BEng BTec
Faculty: Research LecturerDr Fergal Tuffy is Research Lecturer for Design within the InnoTech Centre.
Fergal was formerly Project Manager for the Beyond Computing project, between the South West College and IT Sligo, where the project focused on rapid prototyping, media production and GIS mapping. Fergal specialised in the rapid prototyping and reverse engineering strand of the project.
Nicola Quinn BSc (Hons)
Faculty: AdministrationNicola Quinn is Office Administrator within the InnoTech Centre.
Nicola has a Bsc Hons Degree in Business Studies and a HNC in Business Information Technology.
Dwayne T. Duncan BA (Hons)
Faculty: Design TeamDwayne Duncan is a furniture and product designer based within the InnoTech Centre, Cookstown.
Dwayne graduated from University of Ulster school of Art and Design, Belfast with a BA Hons (2.1) Degree in Industrial Design (Furniture, Product and Interior). During his years at University of Ulster he also completed a years study as part of the Business Education Initiative (BEI) at Florida Southern College, Florida, USA. Previous to this he was a student at the Causeway Institute of Further and Higher Education completing a BTec Nat. Diploma in Land Administration.
Shirley Lamont BSc (Hons) DIS
Faculty: Design TeamShirley Lamont is an Industrial Technology and Training associate for Design within the InnoTech Centre.
Shirley graduated from University of Ulster in 2008 with BSc Hons Interactive Multimedia Design and Diploma in Industrial Studies. Previous to this Shirley completed AVCE’s in Double Award Business Studies and ICT.
Damian McElroy BSc (Hons)
Faculty: Design TeamDamian is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate for Design within the InnoTech Centre.
He specialises in engineering & product design with experience in the use of Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Chris McQueen BSc (Hons) DIS MBCS
Faculty: Design TeamChris is an Industrial Training & Technology Associate for Design within the InnoTech Centre.
Chris was previously employed in a local Architectural & Structural Engineering Design firm where he specialised in Technical drawing for Structures and was involved in the research of 3D design & design applications.
Stephen Smith BTech
Faculty: Design TeamStephen Smith is an Industrial Training and Technology Associate within the Innotech Centre, Stephen was previously employed by Acheson & Glover Ltd where he was involved in producing technical drawings using autocad and also in producing design calculations, primarily in relation to concrete products. He has most recently worked for a local structural engineering firm Fabricat Ireland Contractors Ltd where he was a Project Manager.
Matthew Quigley BSc (Hons), BEng (Hons) Agri
Faculty: Design TeamMatthew Quigley is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate for the Design team at the InnoTech Centre based in Cookstown.
Matthew graduated from University of Ulster in June 1999 with a HND in Computing Science and again from I.T. Tralee in June 2007 with BSc Honours (First Class) in Agricultural Engineering Management.
Stuart Morrow FD Eng
Faculty: Electronics/Software/ICT TeamStuart Morrow is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate – (ICT) specialising in wind power and hydrogen power at the Innotech Centre based in the Cookstown campus. His role includes researching, designing and product testing in both domestic and industrial wind turbines and hydrogen systems.
Stuart gained a foundation degree in Electronic Industrial Engineering with the University of Ulster in conjunction with South West College Stuart has also completed his B-Tec national diploma in mechanical engineering.
Dave Murray BEng
Faculty: Electronics/Software/ICT TeamDave has worked within the Electronics, Software and ICT industry for 18 years with a variety of UK and Irish high-tech companies including Racal Communications, GEC Plessey Semiconductors and Parthus Technologies.
Most recently Dave lead his own company into a 2-year collaborative European R&D research project with Europe’s number 1 & 2 semiconductor companies. The R&D project focused on software design methodologies and CAD tools for the semiconductor industry.
Karen Quinn BSc FDWT, BTEC
Faculty: Electronics/Software/ICT TeamKaren Anderson is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate for the Electronics, Software and ICT Team within the InnoTech Centre.
Karen had formerly worked as a Datix and Datix Web Project Officer within the Western Health and Social Services Trust for Northern Ireland. This role involved data administration, management, normalization, configuration, quality and security of the system, analyzation for reports, enhancements for the system, budgetary control and the delivery of training for the system to approximate 3600 staff at all levels and grades. The successful role out of the database system was based on Prince 2 Methodology techniques.
Paul Cairns B.Agr (Hons), Dip
Faculty: Sustainability TeamPaul Cairns is an Industrial Training and Technology Associate (ITTA) in Sustainability within the InnoTech team based in the Cookstown Campus.
Paul formerly worked for 22 years in the Agricultural/Dairying Industry. Most recently he was a Farm Liaison Officer with Lakeland Dairies (N.I.) Ltd, based in Omagh, with responsibility for managing advice, milk collection and payment to 250 milk suppliers.
Neil Freeburn BSc (Hons)
Faculty: Sustainability TeamNeil Freeburn is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate for the Sustainability team in the InnoTech Centre based in Cookstown.
Neil was previously employed as an Environmental Scientific Officer with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency based in Belfast. His role involved working in conjunction with DARD on a Countryside Management Scheme to reach targets set by the European Commission.
Gemma Keenan
Faculty: Sustainability TeamGemma Keenan is employed as an Industrial Technology and Training associate working in the Sustainability team within the InnoTech Centre. Gemma graduated with a HND in Estate Management in 2004 from the Belfast Institute of Higher and Further Education. She has recently graduated from Queens University Belfast with a Foundation Degree in Rural Sustainability.
Anne Kelly BSc MSc
Faculty: Tourism TeamAnne Kelly is an Industrial Technology and Training Associate for Tourism within the Innotech Centre, Enniskillen.
Anne was previously employed with Southern Area Hospice Services as a Regional Marketing Officer, based in Newry. Her role involved working as a member of the Fundraising team actively co-ordinating and managing appeals and dealing with all Public Relations in the process.
